Law School is dead. Long live the Bar Exam.

Alright so I finished law school. It never really got any better. It was all very boring. I took up watching TV a lot. A lot a lot. Sometimes I felt guilty about it, but actually, it was a quite rational response to how unstimulating my life was (is).

See, I’m in law school in DC. People in DC come in just a few categories: rich vapid lawyers, adolescent 20-something idealists, smarmy politico-wanna-be’s, people who still do keg stands, non-rich vapid lawyers, and homeless people. By and large, this town is for bland people or crack addicts. I’ve lived here for 3 years and I still haven’t even seen anyone with manic-panic hair. In this town, even Hot Topic is too transgressive.

So I was bored. My life and its cast of characters failed to interest me. But you know who did interest me? Jack Bauer, Gregory House, and Tillman, the skateboarding dog. Why the hell would I hang out with idealistic law student #243 and politico-wanna-be #4 when I could watch someone prevent a nuclear bomb from exploding in Los Angeles all while dealing with his mischievous daughter’s arrest for murder? That would be irrational.

Of course, I’d hate to sound incredible, so I will say that there were at least a few people who I did find interesting over the last 3 years. But I’m a stressed out, establishmentarian law student who watches TV all day. Why the hell would an interesting person want to hang out with me?

Anyway so I never really liked law school. I did a clinic this last year which had me interacting with a lot of homeless type people, so that was a nice change of pace, but it couldn’t make up for the lameness that was the other 148 hours of my week.

But now I’m studying for the bar, which, frankly, I’m excited about. I’m taking Barbri and dude, they provide workbooks. And the pages of these workbooks have perforated edges. This reminds me of elementary school, and elementary school was the last time I enjoyed school. So yeah, I’m pretty excited.

Of course, I still have trouble studying for more than 15 minutes at a lick, so I do expect actually putting in the time to be quite challenging. But, I dunno. Whatever. I’m gonna make a poster so I’m excited.
